Robert Kearney and Peter Haran co-authored CROSSFIRE and FLASHBACK, the best selling books about Australian soldiers in Vietnam.

Robert served as a Section Commander with 9 Platoon, Charlie Company and later with the Reconnaissance Platoon of "The Tiger," 5 Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (RAR) during the battalion's first tour of duty 1966-1967.

Peter served as a dog handler with the Tracking Team 2 Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (RAR) during their first tour of duty in 1967-1968.

Both men survived their first tour of duty relatively unscathed and returned to Vietnam in 1971, this time serving in the same battalion, "Old Faithful" 3 Battalion Royal Australian Regiment (RAR).

Peter wrote an excellent and moving account of his service with 2 RAR and how he shared his war experience with a tracker dog called Caesar. Caesar was a larrikin, a great mate and Peter's most trusted companion throughout their tour of duty together in 1967-1968.
